James F. Scofield, Sr.

James F. Scofield Sr., 82, a life-long Beacon resident passed away peacefully on July 3, 2021, surrounded by his family, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was born in Beacon, NY on December 15, 1938, to the late Harold & Rebekah (Little) Scofield. Upon graduating Beacon High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he served post-Korean Conflict from 1957-1960 and received an honorable discharge of service.

James worked for over 30-years in chemical research manufacturing for Kay-Fries, and last was for Gemark in Newburgh, NY, then retired in the 2000s.

James was a proud retired Life-Member of the Beacon Engine Fire Company 1. James was an avid fisherman, he loved fishing trout; and was a passionate & devoted NY Yankee and NY Giants fan. James was an antique dealer which he thoroughly enjoyed; he also enjoyed playing darts.

James is survived by his 3 children: Linda Scofield; James F. Scofield Jr, and his wife Christine; Kimberly Scofield. He is also survived by his 2 grandchildren: Rebecca & Jacob Scofield. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Janis (Ortmann) Scofield in 1984.

His Family & Friends will gather to Remember and Honor his life of service on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 3-7pm at the LIBBY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon, at 6:30PM Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Marines Corp. A Private Cremation will follow, with a private interment at a later date in the Fishkill Rural Cemetery at the convenience of his family.
