Henry “Hank” Milczewski, of Hyde Park, passed away peacefully in his home with his family on September 2, 2022 at the age of 70, after a short battle with mesothelioma. Born on January 6, 1952, he graduated from Roosevelt High School, class of 1970, and made his career and many lifelong friends at Central Hudson, working as a Control Operator in the Danskammer power plant and retiring as an Estimator in 2011.
Hank was an avid hunter; he loved spending cool fall days in the woods, and was very proud of his collection of mounts. In his retirement he enjoyed working outdoors - cutting and splitting wood for his winter fires, puttering around the yard, growing flowers, and devising ways to keep the squirrels out of his birdfeeders. He also developed a hobby of crafting, creating a myriad of decorative lamps from antique glass bottles which he dug up on the beaches of Maine or found antique hunting, and other clever knicknacks and yardworks.
He was predeceased by his wife Bridget (Hurley) in 1990, as well as his parents Walter and Josephine (Lewandowski) Milczewski. He is survived by his children Shannon Milczewski (Hyde Park, NY) and Kevin Milczewski (Seattle, WA); siblings Angie Hritz, Raymond “Buffy” Milczewski (Nancy), and Karen Milczewski; and a multitude of siblings-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 10:00am to 11:30am on Saturday November 5, 2022 at Libby Funeral Home, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon, followed by interment at St. Joachim Cemetery, 325 Washington Avenue, Beacon, and a Celebration of Life at the Beacon Elks Club, 900 Wolcott Avenue, Beacon.
