Alvina C. Schmitt, 92, formerly of Sparrowbush, NY, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2021 at the Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Beacon, NY; where she has resided for the last three-years. She was born on March 10, 1929 in the Bronx, NY, daughter of the late Harold Francis & Elizabeth (Balzer) Thomas.
Alvina worked as a bank teller for several years at the Chemical Exchange Bank in the Bronx, NY, until she retired. She was active with her church in Weymouth, MA; where she taught religion and sang in the choir. She thoroughly enjoyed helping others when needed.
She was married to John Henry Schmitt, a veteran of the United States Army, who served during World War II and the Korean Conflict; John predeceased Alvina on September 22, 2006.
Along with her husband John Schmitt, she was predeceased by her daughter Nancy E. McMasters. Alvina is survived by her grandson Palmer McMaster, her sister Caroline Thomas Klimas, and several nieces & nephews.
