William H. Inness III, a longtime Beacon resident, passed away with his daughters by his side at the Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, NY on November 22, 2022; at the age of 75 years old. He was born on October 11, 1947 in Bronxville, NY, son of the late William H. Inness Jr. & Virginia (Smith) Inness. Known by his family and friends as ‘Bill’.
He graduated from Yorktown High School, and went onto college but then enlisted in the United States Navy. Bill proudly served during the Vietnam Era from February 28, 1971, until receiving an honorable discharge on March 20, 1972.
On February 17, 1973, at St. John Church in Yonkers, NY, he married Margaret Mary Kelly, affectionately Peggy; she sadly only predeceased him 9-months ago on February 1, 2022. They were happily married for 49-years. Bill and Peggy were longtime communicant of St. Joachim-St. John Church in Beacon.
Bill worked for years as a payroll clerk for the Metro-North Railroad in New York, NY, until he retired. He also was a union representative.
His enjoyment was spending time with his family, particularly his granddaughter Ryleigh, whom he loved dearly. He would take her miniature golfing, the movies, anywhere she wanted to go, or anything she wanted to do.
William is survived by her loving daughters: Mary Ellen Inness and Nicole (Ryan) Inness-Donovan; his precious granddaughter Ryleigh Donovan. Along with his beloved wife Peggy, he was predeceased by his son, William J. ‘Bill’ Inness on September 20, 2016; he was also predeceased by his brother Larry Inness.
Bill is also survived by his brother Robert Inness of Athol, MA; his sister Ginger Inness of Albany, NY; several nieces & nephews, and can’t forget about his beloved dog ‘Shadow’.
His Family will receive Friends on Monday, November 28th from 5-8pm at the LIBBY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am, Tuesday, November 29th at St. Joachim Church, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon, followed by interment to St. Joachim Cemetery, 325 Washington Avenue, Beacon.
