Thomas Johnson

Johnson, Thomas H. Jr., a lifelong Beacon resident entered into rest Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 69. Born January 11, 1944 in Beacon, NY he was the son of the late Thomas H. Johnson Sr. and Harriet Wise Johnson. On August 23, 1997 in Wappingers Falls, NY he married Helen Mandigo, Mrs. Johnson survives at home. Thomas retired after 25 years as a Supervisor for Environmental Services at Castle Point VA Medical Center, Castle Point, NY. After his retirement he was employed at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie for over seven years. Thomas was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1965-1967. In addition to his wife Helen M. Johnson, survivors include two daughters: Denise R. Johnson (Charles Fox) of Walden, and Laura Johnson of Jonesboro, GA., his mother Harriet Johnson of Fishkill, his stepchildren: Jessica Montague (David) of Sherburn, NY, Vincent J. Bergerson II of Poughkeepsie, Christin Bergerson of Hyde Park, Deborah Horton of Albany, Robert Horton of Albany, and Nicole Horton of Albany, his sister Marie Grisby of Atlanta, GA., his grandchildren Andrea, Angeline, James, Gregory, Sharee, Lawanda, George, Wyatt, Samantha, Vincent and Neveah, as well as several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a stepdaughter Linda Horton. Visitation will be held Saturday June 8, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at The Springfield Baptist Church, Mattie Cooper Square, Beacon, NY. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Reverend Ronald O. Perry will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Beacon.
