Samuel Henry Jr. of Beacon, entered into rest Thursday, June 27, 2013 at home. Mr. Henry was born on August 20, 1928, in Niagara On The Lake, Ontario, Canada, lived in Bayonne, NJ, Fishkill, NY and Beacon, NY. He was a 1948 graduate of Beacon High School and served in the Navy from 1948 to 1952 aboard the USS McKean in the Far East during the Korean War. After discharge from the Navy, Mr. Henry served with the NY State Police in the Troy area. He was employed by Texaco Research Laboratories in 1954 and retired in 1990 as foreman after 37 years of service. Mr. Henry married Frances M. Boss at the First Methodist Church in Beacon on December 17, 1955. An active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Beacon, Mr. Henry served as an Elder, a Deacon and Corresponding Secretary of the First Friday Club. He founded and coordinated the Texaco Retirees’ Breakfast Club which met monthly at the I-84 Diner. He was also a member of the Waterman Bird Club and the Association of Former New York State Troopers, Mid-Hudson Chapter. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Sandra Gail Wilson and son-in-law Geoffrey Wilson, Kathleen Ellen Newton and son-in-law Mark Newton, Dawn Elizabeth Henry and son Daniel John Henry and daughter-in-law Shelly Henry. He is also survived by grandchildren Katie Michelle (Maurice) Sinnett, Laney Rae Newton, Jonathan David Wilson, Matthew Fredric Wilson, Geoffrey Trevor Wilson, Kimberly Lynn (Zach) Carson and Kristina Danielle Henry, great-grandchildren Brynis, Lochlan and Ivy Sinnett, his sister Helen Henry Link and her husband Edward, a cousin John Gillis, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Charlotte Henry Masker, his niece Debra Link Dougherty, great-grandson Finnian Sinnett, cousins George and James Gillis. There will be no calling hours A memorial service will take place Monday, July 1, at 12:00 noon at the First Presbyterian Church, Beacon. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 50 Liberty St., Beacon, NY 12508, Wounded Warriors, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256 or to a favorite charity.
