Philip R. Baxter

September 23, 1939 — February 7, 2021

Philip R. (Chub) Baxter was reunited with his beloved daughter Phyllis E. Kelly and his little dog Abby when he entered the Gates of Heaven on February 7th, 2021. A lifelong resident of Beacon, NY; Chub was the son of the late Phil and Bette Baxter. He was a valued railroad employee for forty-four years. He and his wife, Pat (Williams) were joined in a marriage of love and commitment for 61 years. Remaining to remember a man deeply loved are his wife Pat, daughter Patty Rodgers, Dannyson Rodgers, Tommyson Kelly, “hugged in daughter” Lisa Stegar (Gene), sister-in-law, Margaret G. Williams, brother-in-law, Joseph Fonteneou, Artie Baxter of Norway, Billy of Vermont, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Chub was a man of faith in Christ, loyal, loving and hardworking. One of his greatest gifts he and his family shared was the gift of time together. Laughter, sharing stories, eating pizza and Klondike bars blessed them all with lasting memories. Chub was fondly known for his love for his furry family members through the years, chopping wood, Nascar, country music, and giving the best hugs EVER. He was also predeceased by his sister Diane Fonteneou and his brother Paul Baxter. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the LIBBY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon, NY 12508. A Private Burial Service was held at the Fairview Cemetery, Washington Avenue, Beacon. For those who wish to express their sympathies pass on a hug to another as Dad would do. Memorial Donations may be made to Dutchess County S.P.C.A. or Hospice of Dutchess County. The compassionate care of Nurse Karen and the Hospice team of Dutchess County will always be remembered and may God Bless each of you as you allow others to pass from this earth with dignity and respect.
