Nicholas Huggins

Huggins, Nicholas ‘Huggy’ of Beacon, entered into rest Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Mid Hudson Regional Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 71. Born August 24, 1943, in Harlem NY, he was the son of the late Harold Johnson and Elease Curry. Nicholas was a retired Security Guard, for the Beacon City School District. He also worked as a Correctional Officer at Mattewan for 20 years. His past employment consisted of working on Wall Street for Dreyfus, working at Hudson Valley News in Beacon, NY and a camp director at the Christ Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. His was an psychiatric aide at Montrose VA Hospital and a teachers aide at Beacon High School. November 5, 2012, in Beacon, NY he married Leatrice Parker of 33 years who survives him at home. In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Lori Huggins Beal of Florida and Yvonne Herring of Newburgh, two brothers, Vernon Curry and Lindsay Curry of Bronx, two sisters, Carol Curry and Pamela Rodriguez of Bronx, two grandsons, Ayinde Beal and Jadin Herring, two sisters-in-law, Rebecca Brown and Priscilla Thompson of Beacon, and his mother-in-law, Sybilla Thompson of Beacon, as well as many grand nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday, January 19, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Libby Funeral Home, Inc. 55 Teller Ave. Beacon, NY, where at 11:00 am funeral services will take place. Internment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made directly to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Jarett D.
