Gladys Bopp

Bopp, Gladys F., a longtime resident of Beacon, entered into rest on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the home of her daughter, she was 86. Born February 17, 1924 in Clinton Hollow, NY, she was the daughter of the late James A. & Flora Cotter Stecher. Mrs. Bopp retired after 25 years of being an Insurance Agent for Emery & Webb,Fishkill. On September 4, 1943 she married Henry M. Bopp, on April 6, 1994 Mr. Bopp preceeded her in death. Gladys was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Beacon for over 70 years, was a past member of the Beacon Seniors & the Glenham Seniors and was an avid supporter of the restoration of the Mt. Beacon Incline Railway. Survivors include her three children; Barbara L. Jung of Newburgh, James A. Bopp of Beacon & Wayne A. Bopp and his wife Gina of Beacon. Six grandchildren; Tanya & her husband John Volkmann, Jason Bopp, Justin Tomlins, Carey & her husband Dave Lavoie, Casey & her husband Matt Wilson & Kristy & her husband Tony Tobar. 4 great-grandchildren; Chloe, Dianna, Ava & Henry. Two sisters-in-law; Bertha Way of Beacon & June Stecher of Wappingers Falls. Several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by an infant daughter Janis, her brothers & sisters; Arthur, Earl, & James Jr. Stecher, Marion Majestic, Virginia Voght & Reta Chrystal. Visitation will be held Monday, January 31, 2011 from 2:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Libby Funeral Home, Inc. 55 Teller Ave. Beacon, NY Funeral services will take place Tuesday, February 1, at 10:00 am at the funeral home, Pastor Tony Beck will officiate. Memorial contributions in Gladys' memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association 2 Jefferson Plaza Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 In Gladys' last years she resided with and was cared for by her daughter Barbara and granddaughter Kristy & her husband Tony.
