Swain, Dolores Carol entered into rest January 24, 2013 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. She was 70. Born April 20, 1942 in Peekskill, NY, she was the daughter of the late Samuel L. and Martha Ann Barksdale Lunsford II . She was the widow of the late Lewis Swain Sr. who pre-deceased her in 1999. Dolores was a retired Seamstress for Dorel Hat Co., Beacon. She had attended Beacon schools, she was a member of The Springfield Baptist Church, Beacon, the Church Sanctuary Choir, Past President of Beacon Concerned Citizens, a volunteer for NSO, she was a Missionary, she enjoyed playing softball, bowling, and loved to cook and feed people. Survivors include four children, Lewis swain Jr. (Stacy) of Beacon, Kathy Swain of Beacon, Troy A. Swain (Shontae) of Wappingers Falls, and Donald Tomlins (Danelle) of MI, seven grand children, Chastity, JoAnn, Amber, Othello, Chloe, Briel, and Tiffany, two brothers , Samuel Lunsford III (Levisa) of Beacon, and Marvin Lunsford of NC, two sisters, Mary Odelia McNair of NC, and Marilyn A. Lunsford of Beacon, six sisters-in-law, Mary Medley White (Frank), Mary E. Morrow (Ed), Annie J. Wright (Larry), Elaine Cage, Catherine Swain and Valerie Lunsford, one brother-in-law, Freddie Swain (Physhpy), her god-sons, Michael Forte, Luis Galarza Jr., and Lowell Harvard, her spiritual children, Julius and Minister Luader Smith, her best friend Rosie Simmons, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents she was pre-deceased by three brothers, Richard, Berkley, and James Lunsford, two sisters, Ann Marie Carlton, and Martha Jean Vereen, and her grandmother, Odelia Ellis. Visitation will be held Wednesday January 30, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Thursday January 31, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at The Springfield Baptist Church, 8 Mattie Cooper Square, Beacon, where, at 11:00 am Funeral Services will be held. Pastor Ronald O. Perry will Officiate. Inurnment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe made to The Springfield Baptist Church Youth Ministry, 8 Mattie Cooper Square, Beacon, NY 12508. Arrangements are under the direction of Jarett D.
