Beatrice (Gooden) Smith

November 23, 1959 — February 20, 2020

On February 20, 2020 Beatrice L. Smith was called home to heaven after her long health battle. Beatrice, better known as Kitten or Bea to her friends and family Survived by her Sister Brenda, Brother Willie (Shannon), Nephew Andre "Isiah" (Tyler), Niece's Latasha "Chante" (Jonathan, Juelz)" and Aaliyah "Baby Girl". Beatrice was born on November 23, 1959 in the Bronx, New York to her parents Beatrice and John Gooden. Growing up in The South Bronx, Beatrice was always surrounded by her cousins Waymond, Lemont, Caroline, Lester, Melvin "her buddy", Jackie "Black", Sandra "Spoon" (Tyran), & Morris. For Beatrice, family was the most important thing. Beatrice graduated from West Side High School in 1977. After graduating from high school, Beatrice aspired of becoming either a lawyer or a dentist. She spent some time in college in hopes of becoming a dentist. Her favorite hobby was reading. She always had a stack of books in her room. Beatrice was very smart in many aspects of life; She was great at Jeopardy and always said she was going to be on that show one day. As life took her in many directions, Beatrice found love and married. Beatrice worked as a waitress for many years. Beatrice found a new passion in event planning. She also worked at The City Center in White Plains as a party planner. Beatrice would coordinate children's parties. After leaving her home in Tuckahoe for many years Beatrice moved to Virginia where she began working at Big Lots. Beatrice spent the next several years in Virginia before making her way to Walden/Newburgh where she worked as a dietary aid. Beatrice was always a hard worker. Beatrice enjoyed working with people. She took pride in everything she did. Beatrice was fun, loving and the life of the party. Left to mourn are her friends and entire family whom all shared their own special bond with her. Rest in Peace.
